Key Responsibilities:
- Producing high-quality, compliant suitability reports across pensions, investments, protection, and estate planning
- Carrying out complex technical calculations, including:
- Supporting advisers with:
- Demonstrable experience in the analysis, recommendation, and purchase of gilts, including yield, maturity, and suitability considerations
- Keeping up to date with legislative, regulatory, and tax changes and applying them pragmatically to client advice
- Trusts & Estate Planning
- Assisting with trust-based investment planning and suitability
- Acting as a technical reference point on complex estate and succession planning cases
Research, Compliance & Process:
- Carrying out detailed product and fund research
- Preparing cashflow models, projections, and technical appendices
- Ensuring all advice meets FCA requirements, internal standards, and best practice
- Working independently to manage workload and complex cases end-to-end
- Contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of paraplanning processes, templates, and technical frameworks
Mentoring & Leadership:
- Acting as a senior technical resource for advisers and paraplanners
- Reviewing work produced by junior paraplanners
- Providing guidance, coaching, and technical mentoring
- Helping to raise and maintain high technical and professional standards across the business
Essential Requirements:
- Chartered Financial Planner (CII) status
- 10+ years’ experience as a paraplanner within a UK IFA firm
- Strong, hands-on experience with:
- Excellent understanding of:
- Exceptional attention to detail and a consistently high standard of written communication
- Able to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
- A genuine enthusiasm for paraplanning as a long-term career
- Comfortable mentoring and supporting junior paraplanners
Desirable:
- Experience working with HNW / UHNW clients
- Exposure to complex intergenerational planning
- Strong working knowledge of back-office systems (e.g. Intelligent Office)
- Interest in shaping paraplanning standards and best practice across a firm
