What are you doing to reduce your carbon footprint?
We want to shout it from the treetops (pun intended!) We are en route to becoming 100% carbon neutral (and then some) with the help of Ecologi.
This is just one of the many projects we have embarked on since beginning our application to become B-Corp certified.
For us, becoming B-Corp certified is not something we take lightly. We are shining a light on everything we do to ensure we are doing our part for our social and environmental impact. This includes looking toward our stakeholders and suppliers and ensuring that the companies we work with are also ethically and environmentally sound.
We firmly believe that like us, business’ will be reviewing their suppliers and the companies they work with to ensure they too are sustainable and have a positive impact on the climate crisis. This includes recruitment firms!
This is one of the many reasons we are going through the B Corp process. Our clients and candidates know that when they use services provided by Recruit UK and The Financial Planner Life, they too will be helping to create positive change.
You may have noticed that we’ve been working hard on our office culture and values recently. Projects like; raising money to prevent homelessness with our three peaks challenge, promoting mental health, particularly among men with our Talk Club collaboration, celebrating women in recruitment and the financial planning profession, and completely changing our employee policies to ensure good practice and healthy, happy employees.
We’ve done a cracking job of building a positive community at the Financial Planner Life and Recruit UK and advocated for the social issues in which we care the most. Now it’s time to take a look at our environmental impact, and how we can help to reduce our carbon footprint.
Enter Ecologi.
In less than just one month, we have already reduced 13.5 tonnes of CO2, helping the prevention of deforestation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and using waste biomass to produce electricity in Chile.
Here is what 13.5 tonnes of CO2 looks like:
- 10 long-haul flights
- or 41 metres2 of sea ice saved
- or 33,494 miles driven in a car!
We have also planted 330 trees in different locations all over the world including planting trees and supporting water security in Kenyan forests, planting forest gardens in Uganda and saving endemic Moroccan fruit tree species and increasing our Recruit UK Forest here in the UK.
As a business, we are committed to contributing to the health of the planet and people.
This is why we are dedicated to giving more back to the planet than we take.
How do we do this?
- We plant trees all over the world for every new and existing employee (10 each month for each employee to be precise)
- For every recruitment placement made we plant a tree in our own Recruit UK Forest in the UK.
When we all make small contributions as individuals, we make massive, global changes together.
